My wife stepped away to go to the bathroom and when she returned she saw that a well-dressed woman had approached the table and was chatting with our daughter. As she walked up she recognized it was Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York.
The Duchess introduced herself and said that she had been having a business meeting and couldn’t help but notice the two of them having a wonderful time. She said it reminded her of spending time with her (now grown) daughters. She was charming and kind. She pulled up a chair and told my daughter about the Queen and what real princesses are like.
She gave them a signed copy of her children’s book (coincidentally about a little girl who is invited to have tea with the queen), offered to have her security guy take a picture of them and then headed out to do whatever it is that a duchess does.
