I was on my way to the post office when I passed a house

“I was on my way to the post office when I passed a house with a table on the sidewalk and a sign that said ‘FREE.’ I turned around, parked my car by the road, and walked over to the family sitting near the table.

As I got closer, a young man asked me if I needed a meal. I was right—there were home-cooked meals on the table. I said, ‘No, thank you,’ but I wanted to know more about what they were doing. Honestly, I started getting emotional. A woman sitting behind the table told me they give out meals every Sunday.

I was really moved by their kindness. I awkwardly said thank you and tried to give a donation, but the woman kindly said no. I still don’t know why I felt the need to stop and talk to them, but their simple act of love for their community really touched me. It reminded me that even in hard times, people still show up with kindness.”
