I found him in a parking lot

I found him in a parking lot, between two cars, shaking, eyes full of uncertainty. He didn’t know where to go or who to trust. Nobody seemed to notice him… except me.

He climbed into the car without a sound, as if he somehow knew this was his chance. Since then, he hasn’t stopped looking around, trying to figure it out. Is it a trap? Will he be abandoned again?

He doesn’t know yet that this car won’t take him back to pain. It’s taking him home. To a future.

He doesn’t know yet that he’s been chosen, that he’s loved, that he’s safe.

But I know.

And I speak to him softly, I tell him everything will be alright. That the cold days are behind him. That now, he’s heading toward a new life.

You’re safe now, little one. The way you look at me, full of questions—I understand.

I promise you: you are not alone anymore. Welcome home.
