“My 4-month-old baby was crying loudly because, for some unexpected reasons, I couldn’t feed him before we got on the plane.
My 3-year-old daughter was excited at first but then got scared and started kicking and yelling, ‘I want to get off the plane! I don’t want to go!’ I honestly thought they would make us leave the plane.
With both kids upset, I was trying really hard to calm things down.
Then, a man reached out and took the baby to hold him while I buckled Caroline in her seat, gave her tablet, and started her movie. Once she was calm enough, he kept her busy so I could feed Alexander.
Finally, when the plane was moving on the runway, there was no more screaming from the back of the plane. During the flight, he colored and watched a movie with Caroline, talked with her, and showed her things outside the window.
By the end of the flight, he became Caroline’s best friend. I don’t know if he noticed the kiss she gave him on his shoulder while looking out the window.
Surprisingly, we saw him again on our next flight from Charlotte to Wilmington, a route he takes often for work. He helped us get off the plane and walked us to the next gate, holding Caroline’s hand.
If that wasn’t enough, he even changed his seat to sit near us on the next flight so he could help more.
This man, Todd, showed me a kindness and care I had never experienced before. He said his wife had a similar story when their boys were little, and a stranger helped her the same way.
We could have sat next to anyone, but we got lucky to sit next to one of the nicest men I’ve ever met.”
