A very nearly famous Hollywood couple had their careers cross paths in an interesting way. Actress Carolyn Jones is pictured with her husband, Aaron Spelling. They don’t look very happy in the photo, though.
They got married in 1953, and in 1960, Aaron said, “Carolyn is the only person in the world I need. We are more than in love. We are each other’s best friends.” But just three years later, they divorced.
During their marriage, Carolyn was the main breadwinner. She was a popular actress, while Aaron struggled as a writer. “When we first married, Carolyn took a lot of acting jobs that weren’t great, just so I could stay home and write. I’ll never forget that,” he said.
After their divorce, Carolyn didn’t ask for alimony. She went on to become very successful as Morticia in The Addams Family, but later, her career started to slow down.
At the same time, Aaron became a multi-millionaire, writing and producing some of the top TV shows, like Charlie’s Angels, Love Boat, Dynasty, and Hart to Hart.
Thankfully, they stayed friends after everything.
